The biography of Miles Davis by Alain Gerber , illustrated by Jacques Ferrandez and accompanied by 2 compact discs.

The young Miles Davis had suffered an artistic trauma in the 1940s which would irremediably decide the direction of his musical trajectory: the revelation of the sound world of alto saxophonist Charlie Parker , nicknamed “ Bird ”, whose crazy improvised explorations made then explode the perspectives of jazz of the time; Parker 's traveling companion from 1947 to 1948, Miles imbued himself with the excellence of his model. A few years later, now a leader , the trumpeter joined as a sideman an “ angry young man ” named John Coltrane , a tenor saxophonist by profession, who would also change the destiny of jazz. In the meantime, our man had rubbed shoulders with the very controversial “ high priest of bebop ”, the pianist Thelonious Monk , during a memorable recording session.

These two CDs bear witness to these meetings at the summit where the giant protagonists of these dizzying musical intersections deliver the message of the eternity of jazz.
