CABU JAZZ MASTERS
A genius innovator, unrivaled improviser, Charlie Parker has had a profound influence on most jazzmen of the last fifty years, all instruments combined. To the point that we almost forget his own, an alto saxophone that he seemed to master with infinite casualness... Here he is presented here in various circumstances, recorded in the studio then in public, always well surrounded, carving out the part of the lion. However, we called him the Bird , no doubt because he seemed to escape the weight of our contingencies.
We hear him here, and in turn, with large orchestras, very beautiful quartets and historic quintets in which he dialogues with giants of the same flour: Dizzy Gillespie , Charles Mingus , the drummers Max Roach and Roy Haynes , pianists Hank Jones , Al Haig , Dick Twardzik , Thelonious Monk and Bud Powell ... We're daydreaming!
