John Coltrane
BD JAZZ
John Coltrane is without a doubt the most important personality among saxophonists and jazz in general since Charlie Parker . He left us in 1967, at the age of forty. However, his authority remains intact, so profound was his influence in the melodic, harmonic and formal domains. Some have been able to assimilate his contribution in depth, like Wayne Shorter who, in turn, influenced the course of history.
Many others have lost their teeth trying to imitate him without having the means or the scope. Our selection takes us back in time, from his late debut in the big leagues, to the real recognition of his peers and the public. His passion, his rage to convince, his crazy desire to surpass himself and always go further command admiration and give us the compelling desire to know him better and listen to him again and again...
