BD JAZZ
It was Coleman Hawkins who made the tenor saxophone one of the major instruments of jazz . From the second half of the 1920s, after having rubbed shoulders with Louis Armstrong in Fletcher Henderson 's orchestra, he was able to take advantage of the trumpeter 's brilliant innovations to invent a style which would immediately influence most of his colleagues.
This is how, over the generations, its mark is still detectable today. No doubt because during his long career he had always known how to listen to new things and surround himself with young guns who invented new trends. Above all because his expressive style, rhythmically bubbling, harmonically refined, transcended schools and fashions.
In forty episodes, we relive in two CDs the richest hours of a great inventor of tourbillons.
